After the highly anticipated AFC Championship matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow came out victorious and are headed to Super Bowl LVI. The world is raving about Burrow, or "Joey B" and here is why he deserves the praise.

First, let me take you back to Burrow's college days. From Athens, Ohio, Burrow had always dreamed for playing for The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was rated a four-star football recruit in high school and the Buckeyes coaching staff took strong notice to his abilities on and off the field. He committed to The Ohio State University in 2014, but was not given the starting quarterback position during his three seasons for the Buckeyes.

Hungry, Burrow graduate transferred to LSU, where he spent two seasons as the starting quarterback. The Buckeyes really did themselves a disservice.
This is why you don't sleep on Burrow:

Now, let's talk about his stellar performance in the AFC championship. The Bengals were up against a favored Kansas City Chiefs team and it sure showed in the first half. They left the first half down 21-3, with little to no hope of a comeback. But, they had Joey B, or "Joe Brrr" as some like to call the fashionista (besides the point). A second half later and the Bengals clinched the AFC Championship 27-24 after a field goal late in the fourth quarter. Joe Burrow recorded a whopping 250 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Burrow was a force to be reckoned with from the jump. He was the first overall pick in the 2020 draft out of LSU and was drafted to the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, his rookie season was cut short due to a season ending ACL-tear, but clearly that did not put a hard stop to his hunger to win. Following the AFC championship win to take him to the Super Bowl, Burrow thanked his physical therapists for taking diligent care of his knee. He credited his recovery to their never-ending efforts to keep him healthy, and it sure did pay off.

I'd like to add that if Burrow goes on to win Super Bowl LVI, he will be the only quarterback in history to win a Heisman Trophy, a College Football National Championship, and a Super Bowl. He was an underdog for the Buckeyes, an underdog when he tore his ACL during his rookie season, an underdog in the AFC Championship game, and look at him now. People root for the underdog, but they undermine the determination they have to be successful. Joey B deserves all the credit he's getting. After all, he is just an underdog.
