Man, I am so proud of this team.
I am also so incredibly proud of Hubert Davis. To have taken over a team (coached by arguably the best college basketball coach of all time), and make it this far just in one single year? It's mind-blowing, but it make sense.

Not only did Hubert Davis lead the Tar Heels to a National Championship in his first year of coaching, Davis bleeds Carolina Blue himself, as a former player and current coach.
Other than coaching one of the best Carolina basketball teams that UNC has seen in almost four years, in 1991 he helped lead UNC to the Final Four under legendary coach Dean Smith. Oh, and he still holds the UNC three-point percentage record.

This guy knows his stuff. But, he also knows his players. Being a player himself, Davis seems to have a unique way to connect with the guys on the team. He had some big shoes to fill, but the connection with his team was already there; you can see the love and respect they have for him every time they step on the court.

Yes, any Tar Heel fan knows that last night's matchup with Kansas was not the way they wanted to go out- heartbreaking to say the least. But, how inspiring is the heart that Carolina brought to March Madness? A lot of people would say, "we aren't even supposed to be here."
To that- I would like to say yes we are. We have one of the ACC's top defenders, a 6'10" beast who recorded 6 double-doubles in the tournament, and a grad transfer averaging 20 points a game..... just to name a few.
We also had a selfless, driven, passionate coach with as much heart as his players.
Carolina should have made it to the National Championship. Even though they came up short, redemption has happened in the past, and I am confident that with Davis leading the Heels, it'll happen again.
